Week 1: Blog Post
Anybody that knows me, knows I love music. Cliché as it sounds, I really am into all genres as you will get to see throughout my blog. Not only do I love the music, but I love the concerts. However, due to Covid-19 we have been deprived of concerts. Hopefully we will be back in venues soon, jamming out to punk rock, contemporary RnB, pop and more.
Since we can’t go to concerts, I’d like to relive in one that I went to in 2017. It was a concert for an American alternative rock band called LANY. A friend and I had been introduced to them, when we saw them open for John Mayer, and we fell in love! So, we decided to see them again.
LANY was not the first concert I ever attended, but it was the one that made me fall in love with small venue shows. Smaller venues are much more intimate and fun; every stranger in the crowd feels like your best friend, as you all jam out to same tunes you love. LANY sparked many emotions that night, from happiness to sadness. I am always amazed with concerts that are less performative but can keep audiences engaged simply through the music and lyrics; and that is exactly what LANY did that night. It transcended me to another universe; I know that sounds like an exaggeration but anytime I look back at the night I feel like it wasn’t real because of how happy and at peace I was with life in that moment.
As I mentioned LANY is an American alternative rock band, but they also produce indie pop music. Their songs range from many tempos but most of them are a moderato tempo, which means a moderate tempo. Their older songs like, Good Girls, Where the Hell Are My Friends, Hericane and more had me hooked! So, enjoy these videos I have posted of the concert, and let’s relive in a time where large crowds where allowed to come together and jam out to music.
I hope you like the music and can feel what I felt that night. I hope you explore LANY further and add them to your playlists. LANY will definitely be a band that may come up in further blogs.
Note: The videos aren’t perfect because I wanted to be present and in the moment at the same time which leads me to take quick videos. So the videos are really shaky because I’m jamming out at the same time.
